How to clean silver jewelry
One of the most frequently asked questions we often receive concerns the cleaning of silver jewelry.
Jewelry is precious and must be handled with care; for this reason, the right precautions must be taken. Care and maintenance are essential to keep the characteristics of metals and stones unchanged.
It is important to prevent contact with chemicals, cosmetics, and perfumes. Daily contact with detergents can damage jewelry, especially if not rinsed thoroughly: soap residues can accumulate, damaging the surface of the piece. This happens because compared to gold jewelry, silver is less demanding and therefore is also worn daily.
How can we solve this problem?
For periodic cleaning, use appropriate products: specific cloth, immersion liquid ad hoc; if not available, wash the items using warm water with a very soft-bristled brush, drying them very carefully on a soft microfiber cloth.
There are many DIY methods to make our jewelry shine again as if just bought and ready to be worn.
The tricks are simple and easy to do at home, accessible to everyone. Let's discover them together!
- The first advice is to get some baking soda, mix it with a bit of warm water, pour everything into a small bowl, let the mixture dissolve, then once cooled, immerse your jewelry, leave it for a few minutes, and dry it with a soft cloth. Your jewelry will finally be like new.
- For the next trick, you only need a lemon. The step is very simple: take a toothbrush with some squeezed lemon on it and gently rub it on the silver element in question. Please be careful to do this step very delicately to avoid that a too abrupt movement and the toothbrush bristles might damage and scratch the jewelry.

- Another home method consists of reusing the cooking water of previously boiled potatoes, this action will tend to release a substance that removes oxidation traces, you only need to immerse the jewel in non-boiling water and wait the necessary time, you will notice that gradually the oxidation stains will immediately disappear.
Finally, one last trick that might interest you is vinegar, which in the cleaning world has a thousand uses, one of which is also very effective, its power is to revive a blackened jewel, moisten a cloth with vinegar, rub and let it act for a while, the final effect will surprise you, always try to be gentle.
Considering a very important thing, in the case where the jewelry is gold plated like our jewelry, that is with a special galvanic process (in white, yellow, or rose gold), you must absolutely avoid contact with agents such as perfumes, salt water, skin creams, sulfur, hair sprays, chlorine, and skin with acidic pH.
Often the speed of oxidation depends on the skin and the care habits of the person wearing the jewelry.
Remember that your jewelry must be handled with care at all times.
This is important to preserve jewelry for a long time and keep it in good condition, maintaining its shine over time.
Love your jewels and take care of them as you would yourself.
