Naples is a city full of surprises that leaves every tourist breathless. Its typical alleys characterized by the pleasant smell of coffee and the famous Margherita pizza, so named in honor of the Queen, frame what represents an enchanting landscape: the seafront with its Vesuvius.
Naples, also called the Neapolitan city, is rich in symbols that represent a mix of superstition, faith, and legend. Among these is certainly the cult of Saint Gennaro and the miracle, always popular, rooted in Neapolitan culture.
According to the story Saint Gennaro was beheaded for his Christian faith and according to legend, a woman collected his blood in a vial and preserved it to venerate as a relic. The blood solidified but not completely. Even today the tradition holds that three times a year, on December 16, the Saturday before the first Sunday of May, and on September 19 (feast of the patron saint Saint Gennaro), the "miracle" is repeated, which sees the transformation from solid to liquid state of the blood contained in the vial.
This phenomenon is considered by the faithful and all Neapolitans a miracle and at the same time a true “misfortune” if the miracle does not occur.
