Ancient legends tell that the pumo, which represents a bud of the Acanthus flower, is a symbol of prosperity and fertility. Over time it has become an object of good omen, a lucky charm against evil. For this reason, it is still made today by Puglian artisans in many versions and colors and can be found on balconies and cornices of buildings.
