Discover the meaning of the Pumo Pugliese
From ancient oil mills, from stories of family traditions, from the intense scent of sea salt and the vivid colors of a wonderful land, the new collection Apulia. The red of a beloved land, the green of a thousand landscapes, and the blue of the crystal-clear sea form the backdrop to our creations inspired by Apulia.

An emblematic symbol of the Puglian tradition is the LUCKY PUMO. Its name derives from Latin and means fruit, in honor of the cult of the Goddess POMONA, protector of all fruits. Ancient legends tell that the pumo, which represents a bud of the Acanthus flower, is a symbol of prosperity and fertility. Over time it has become an object of good omen, a lucky charm against evil. For this reason, it is still made today by Puglian artisans in many versions and colors and can be found on balconies and cornices of buildings.
"They say you're not a true Salentino if your home isn't enriched with at least one Pumo", this is a tradition passed down for years. In fact, in ancient times it was customary not only to own many Pumi from Puglia inside one's home but also to personalize them with heraldic symbols and with a variable number of leaves around the bud as a testimony to the notoriety, authority, and heritage of the family.
